Можно ли избежать рака лёгких, если бросить курить?
Широко известен тот факт, что курящие люди подвергают себя огромным рискам со здоровьем. В частности, они страдают от гипертонии, сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний, у некоторых может образоваться рак лёгких. Однако этого риска можно избежать, если бросить курить.
К такому выводу пришли американские исследователи. Они решили выяснить, сколько времени может потребоваться людям, чтобы избежать этого риска. Оказалось, что вероятность сводится к нулю через пять лет после того, как вы бросили пагубную привычку.
Исследованием в данной области занимались научные специалисты из Университета Вандербильта. Они проанализировали данные о состоянии здоровья 8 907 человек. На протяжении 25-34 лет учёные наблюдали за здоровьем добровольцев. За это время медики эксперты диагностировали 284 случая рака лёгких. 93% случаев приходилось на курильщиков, выкуривавших около 1 пачки сигарет в день на протяжении 21 года и больше.
Спустя пять лет после отказа от курения риск образования рака лёгких у курильщиков сокращался на 39 процентов. При этом он продолжал снижаться. Но через 25 лет после отказа от курения риск рака оставался в три раза больше, нежели у людей, которые вообще не курили.
